The Department of Education has approved the current K–12 editions of ETR’s HealthSmart program as a comprehensive Health Education program for New York City. HealthSmart is an evidence-informed curriculum that meets the National Health Education Standards, upon which the New York State Comprehensive Health Education Standards were based. The program focuses on the CDC’s 6 areas of risk for young people and is designed to address children and adolescents' developmental capabilities across the K–12 school years.
NYC DOE also recommends lessons from Reducing the Risk for high school—along with HealthSmart—to meet the NYC DOE Sexual Health Education requirement.
